Glaucoma is a progressive (it gets worse) optic neuropathy (a disease of your optic nerve which connects your brain to your eye). It is often characterized by having high pressure inside your eye, but a careful examination will reveal whether your eye pressure is in fact high and if any damage has occurred to your optic nerve.
Have my eyes “gotten worse”?
While many things can affect the clarity of your vision, it is perfectly normal for your prescription to change with time. Children who do too much close work and older adults whose near vision decreases with time are all experiencing natural adaptations or changes that result in your prescription for eye glasses changing. Once a careful eye exam is performed, the cause of your vision change can be determined.
